Welches Klavier?

  • Hallo zusammen!

  • Yamaha und Roland also.
Naja, damals vielleicht schon. :D

  • One of the grand pianos that was used on the some of the earlier recordings was the Bolin Grand at Metronome Studios. Later recordings at Polar Studios were performed on the Bösendorfer Imperial Grand. Today there are several grand pianos at Mono Music and Riksmixningsverket, the latest addition being the brand new Fazioli Grand.

  • Well, this was interesting. According to an interview with Stuart MacKillop (Sound International Magazine | February 1980) who was in charge of ABBAs keyboard electronics, Benny Andersson was using a Yamaha CP-70 with hydraulics during the 1979 world tour. Furthermore, according to an interview with Benny himself (Hifi & Musik | August 1982) he was then using a Yamaha CP-70B with hydraulics. However, after reviewing the footage from the concert at Wembley Arena, it is evident that Benny at least during that concert was using a Yamaha CP-80 with hydraulics and Anders Eljas was using a Yamaha CP-70.

Thus, during the 1979 ABBA world tour Benny played the Moog Minimoog, the Yamaha CP-80 and the Yamaha GX-1 while Anders played the ARP Odyssey, the Hohner D6 Clavinet, the SCI Prophet-5 and the Yamaha CP-70.

Other electric pianos used at Polar Studios were the Yamaha CP-30, the Wurlitzer 200A and the Rhodes Mk 1 Stage 73.

Benny Anderssons Yamaha GS-1, which for example can be heard during the last version of the "Like An Angel Passing Through My Room" in the "From A Twinkling Star To A Passing Angel" demo medley, was donated to the Swedish museum of Performing Arts in 1993 and is currently in their storage facility.
